This past week...

Day of Service

Saturday was the stake day of service. We collected a lot of food for Golden Harvest Food Bank. We had a lot of fun doing it. We put up flyers on Wednesday and collected the food on Saturday. The back of our van was full. We collected over 10 tons of food throughout the stake! That is very cool!








Faces

We made silly faces on Sunday. On our computer we were able to take the pictures. There were different styles including stretch, squeeze, and swirl. Some pictures were on accident and others on purpose. Try to figure out who is who. There is one of every person in the family. Have fun laughing.

Peaches

We have peaches on our peach tree. There are 10 peaches. They are green and orange. They are 1 ½ inches. The tree has leaves on it. It used to have pink flowers on it. But now it doesn’t. I’m so excited. Soon we are going to have our own peaches.







Earth Day

I like Wall-E. I like the movie Wall-E. We planted sunflower seeds and strawberries. I hope we have strawberries for a snack.








A Smattering of Thankful Fors…

I’m grateful we were able to plant sunflowers and strawberries. We played with animals and cars this week. We could have a fun time. We read Fablehaven. We also could play outside because Mom and Dad fixed the fence. And that we could play in the house and that we could make up a song. It is called “Everybody sings a song”. Dad and I made a little story last night about a mouse and a monster. The monster was afraid of the mouse. The monster had to yell loudly. It was on the computer, and it was louder than any scream, and I had to plug my ears for that.

A day WITH the kids

The past week has been filled with almost everything but spending time with my kids. (Remember that tiny fence problem?) By time, I mean "real" time, quality time, fun time. Obviously I am with them almost 24/7, but I felt very Martha-ish the past few days, and I actually wanted to stop and be WITH them. You know the story in the New Testament, where Martha serves and works, but doesn't actually spend time with the Savior? I was feeling that way about my kids.

Today I fixed that. We frosted some post-Easter egg cookies (I love sales!), read books, played Risk, and then Owen and Troy surprised us all with a last laugh at the end of the day.

Problem solved. For today. Enjoy some laughs.

Imagine our surprise when we came home from our Easter Weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's house to find this mess.

Can we all say "Family Home Evening Activity"?!?!?!

Happy Easter!

Conference Weekend!

We had such a great time this conference. The kids (and I) loved our packets, setting up toy conferences, making speedy quick cookies between sessions, relaxing, and being very spiritually fed.


I love how Jonas asked me what my favorite talk was before I could even introduce that subject.
I love how Leslie mentioned that when you listen to Conference it goes by much faster even when you don't want it to.
I love how Owen set up a General Conference with our Little People.
I love how Troy was honest and said that he was bored and didn't know what to do. He later retold President Monson's family story of how a child died crossing the ocean and had to be buried at sea.
I love how Micah looked through the Friend magazines pointing out the "presidents" he had seen speaking in conference.
I love how Evelyn was enthralled with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

And here is our yummy conference cookie recipe:

Mix together
3 cups Bisquik mix
1 cup milk
1 egg
1 1/3 cup Nestle Quick (chocolate, of course)
1 tsp. vanilla
Reese's peanut butter chips (or other baking chips)

Spoon onto baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes at 350. Let cool for 1 minute then remove from baking sheet and eat!

Owen and Troy (at Walmart): People are probably looking at us and thinking we are already 7 years old…


Mom: Evelyn, did you poop in Jonas’ room? Good job!


Mom: Did my song sound pretty or ugly?
Micah: Uh, it was pretty and ugly.

Leslie: Let’s act like humans in front of mom and dad.


Troy: On our star walk I want to see the deep spoon.
Owen: You mean the Big Dipper!


Troy: When I grow up, in my civilized brain I will like potatoes.


Leslie: Evelyn, I love you.
Evelyn: Oh.


Troy: They probably put her in hypersleep so she wouldn’t feel any pain.


Owen: Killing your sister is kinda violent…


Jonas: (Reading from the scriptures) “Do you give yourself “wally” to the church?”
Dad: The word is “wholly”


Bob: “Where in the world are my contacts? They’re not in this case, or in this one… Where are they? Where could I have put them?”
Dresden: “They are in your head.”


Troy: Dad, you are good at speaking Spanish. That is because you went to China.


Troy (getting ready for church): I wish we lived in China.
Mom: Why?
Troy: Then it would be night and I could take my shoes off.


Evelyn: I lub you.


Evelyn: 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 5!
