We love to see the temple

We took the kids to the Columbia South Carolina Temple today. Bob and I took turns doing temple work and watching the kids. It was a great experience for all of us!

Elder Gary Stevenson said, "Even our young children have been encouraged to visit the temple grounds and touch the temple."

President Thomas S. Monson said, "As we touch the temple, the temple will touch us."

We testify that today we've been "touched" by the temple.

We love to see the temple.
We're going again someday
To feel the Holy Spirit,
To listen and to pray.
For the temple is a house of God,
A place of love and beauty.
We'll prepare ourselves while we are young;
This is our sacred duty.

Just for laughs

We've had some great belly laughs lately and I thought I'd share!

Mom: Go away, President Packer! (while reading General Conference and swatting a fly at the same time...)

Micah: We have jobs that are very sense of humor.

Evelyn: My pinkernails are painted!

Dad: I am thankful that we got to run around like crazy freaks in the scriptures! (He meant sprinklers)

Mom: Evelyn, what one will you try first, brussel sprouts or potatoes? Evelyn: Snot.

Owen (to Troy): Those chicken nuggets make you smell good!

Leslie: Dad, who sings this?... Oh, okay. Evelyn, its the Eurythmics, not Snow White.

Mom: I still have to feed the Hardmans with one stick of butter!

Mom: I need forks for my armpits!

Dad: You are all fooferific tonight!

Troy: There is even an outhouse on the plane!

Evelyn (to Dad): We need to talk.

There and back again

We went to Hilton Head on Friday - just for the day! We spent an equal amount of time in the car as we did on the beach. We ran out of sunscreen and decided to head back a little bit earlier than planned so we wouldn't fry to a crisp. We had a great time - but boy, is it exhausting to keep up with 6 exuberant kids (that can't swim so well) at the beach! Everyone had their favorite activities...

BEFORE:

Dad's faves: watching the kids have fun, relaxing in the tent, flying the kite, catching the waves

Mom's faves: the anticipation, the sun, the cool currents in the really really really warm water

Jonas' faves: building a castle complete with castle guys, and diving under the waves to see the ocean with his goggles.

Leslie's faves: flying a kite all by herself, and playing in the "big" waves

Owen's faves: riding on the boogie board, pretending the waves were tsunamis

Troy's faves: (he claims this as the best day of his life) finding a hermit crab (and naming it James), finding a starfish (and extra parts), playing in the waves and fighting the tsunamis, running and jumping into the tide pool/kiddie pool, finding and collecting shells, watching the big boat come closer to the shore

Micah's faves: fighting the tsunamis, playing with Evelyn

Evelyn's faves: playing in the water and jumping in the waves with Mom and Dad, the water guns
