Book Reports

Last week we had some fun book reports.

Micah reported that "Calvin and Hobbes" comic books are great!
He really got into the presentation.

Troy read Janitors and part of Janitors #2.  They are "awesome".

Owen taught us about Greek and Roman gods and
really loves the Percy Jackson series and the Lost Hero series (so far!)

Not to be left out, Evelyn reported that the Barbie book was fantastic and she does read this a lot!

Reuben loves to read too!

(Jonas and Leslie had an extra week to pull off their reports on Utopia and The Hiding Place)

Book Reports

The kids dressed up as a character (for the most part) and presented a book they read this past week/month.

Micah and Evelyn read The Magic Treehouse Tonight on the Titanic.
Here they are as Jack and Annie.

Leslie read One White Dolphin (so did I!)
She dressed up as an older character in the novel and read her favorite part.

Owen packaged himself up and presented the book, Brother from a Box.

Troy read the second Liberty Porter book and dressed up as Sam, the "Secret Agent Man".

Jonas summarized the Count of Monte Cristo (no costume for him, booooo!)
but his book was long and we also watched the not so true to the book movie.

Anne of Green Gables

I love Anne of Green Gables. I love all the books, characters, imagery, stories, ALL OF IT! I had a roommate in college who was identical to Anne (in character) and so I even got to live with Anne! So last week when I went to the library and found a new book entitled "The Prequel to Anne of Green Gables - Before Green Gables", I was apprehensively excited. Who knew if it was going to fly or flop?
Yet again, my kids had to fend for themselves this afternoon as I devoured the book. It combines all the clues from the other books about her pre-Green Gables life, and of course the author (Budge Wilson) takes liberties, but she does so very well. I loved reading about Anne and how her character forms...
I loved it! I highly recommend it!
Enjoy!
