20th Wedding Anniversary

Its hard to be apart, especially on holidays and special occasions like our 20th Anniversary!

Leslie organized a beautiful fancy dinner for our 20th anniversary.
She had each kid bring out the next course and share what we had taught them.

Gideon: be nice
Reuben: clean clothes and clean room
Evelyn: care what God thinks and be humble
Micah: forgiveness
Troy: example to younger siblings
Owen: service and diligence
Leslie: importance of one soul

Bob and I are planning on taking a fun vacation this summer to celebrate together!

15 years

It is not the grand and splendiferous date or gift that makes our wedding anniversary special. It is the love we have shared the past years, day in and day out, that makes our marriage fantastic. We truly look forward to eternity together!

(That being said, we did have a lovely weekend!)

Fear Factor or Date Night? (or both?)

Last night my honey and I went on a date night. We went on the aerial tramway up to the top of the Franklin Mountain State Park. It was quite a view! Then we went to a Mongolian Grill and Chinese Buffet. The Mongolian Grill was fantastic. And the buffet had almost everything you can imagine. . . including . . . "baby octopus." I was so surprised, I couldn't help putting it on my plate and taking a picture of it next to my other food. How weird.

And I am sure you are all grossed out, but I decided to be brave and try it. It was actually kind of hard to convince my mouth to open and bite tentacles off and actually chew and eat them. This is very much unlike me. The entire time Dresden was refusing to even look at me or watch me eat any of it. She was sufficiently disgusted and horrified with my choice of food!
Honestly - it wasn't bad. It reminds me of shrimp, and the sauce was spicy enough to overpower any other taste. So now I can check that off my bucket list- eat octopus!

By the way, lest you think I am truly brave and all that, I could NOT bring myself to eat the bulbous "head." I am brave, but not that brave- who knows what lies inside there.

Awesome husband award

goes to MINE!

On Sunday he overheard me complaining about our lame oven mitts since I get burned every time I use them.
I went upstairs to take a nap, and came down to new handmade oven mitts, a hot pad, and an apron! Way to go husband-o-mine!

ignore the weird face and awkward pose... this is all about the apron!

Now, what in the world can I do to catch up with his kindness and pay him back? Especially with Father's Day this Sunday?!!
