April 2020 Remodeling

In April and May we remodeled the basement: turning multiple cornered doors and a cold storage into a fun entertainment room. We also had plumbing issues (the beginning of many) and replaced the carpet.

MOHHHHHooommmm!

I was upstairs, helping Gideon go to sleep for a nap.  Leslie burst in with the news that now salsa was splattered all over the kitchen floor.  I quickly finished the routine... and went down to assess the damage.

Sometimes a photo-op reminds me not to yell
or cry...

Finally the back-story came out...  Back story, back story, blah, blah, blah...
The kids were having a condiment wrestling contest.  Who knows where they get these weird ideas.

Oh.
Wait.
I was the one to come up with the insane "brush your teeth with ice cream" FHE activity this week. Hmmmmmmmm.

Anyway, Evelyn remembered the ginormous salsa container in the fridge and got that out.  Micah smashed it across the kitchen counter hoping she would catch it and she didn't.  "Salsa" lost the contest, kids were removed from the kitchen to time-outs/reading time, and Mom saved the day paper towels and clorox wipes.  It wasn't that bad, just a couple of cups of salsa on the ground, stools, walls...
Did I mention that I had just scrubbed the floors last night???

Finger prints on theTV.

(This poem was written by Leslie when she was looking around our living room...)

White fence,
old tree.
Curling iron,
and holy knee.
(Finger prints upon the TV.)

Mom changes a poopy diaper,
The kids jump, play, and go.
Dusty fans and tennis shoes.
(Here and there a little lego.)

Library books,
a striped sweater.
A lonely pillow,
(I do wish it was cleaned better,)
But I'm glad we're all together.
